July brings us to a theme of water element in our yoga for all sunday classes
Water, known in Sanskrit as “Ap” or “Apas”, evolves from the elements of Ether, Air and Fire because it contains all aspects of these three elements within it.
Apas represents fluid matter and provides the body with basic nourishment and protection against dissolution
Water gives motion to matter and soothes pain and inflammation. We as humans are made up of 70-75% water. It is the element that primarily protects our body and provides it with its most fundamental nourishment. By its qualities, water is cooling, hydrating, heavy, smooth, and either stagnant or flowing. It is the antidote to the symptoms that have the opposite of these qualities such as deep sensitivity, emotionally ungrounded, dehydrated, on-edge, low self-esteem or if your heart has become hardened.
This month our classes will explore the ways water element can inspire our movement patterns, as well as ways we can counteract the drying effect of midsummer in our bodies, hearts and minds. Class will leave us feeling nourished, lubricated, and quenched. Join us!
